National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
On September 30, Hammerstone Infrastructure Materials Ltd will be recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a statutory holiday.
The purpose of this day is to honour those who attended Residential Schools in Canada and to acknowledge the harm and intergenerational trauma experienced by First Nations, Inuit, and Metis survivors, their families and their communities.
Truth and Reconciliation Day is an opportunity for everyone to learn more about Canada’s history of residential schools and their ongoing legacy. Everyone is encouraged to use this day to listen, learn, and reflect about our shared history.
“Too many Canadians know little or nothing about the deep historical roots of these conflicts. This lack of knowledge has serious consequences for First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples and for Canada.”
